Yoshihiro Togashi, the esteemed creator of Hunter x Hunter, has provided fans with a significant update on the series’ progression. On December 16, 2024, Togashi announced via his official X (formerly Twitter) account that he is meticulously reviewing and adjusting the dialogue and timeline for the forthcoming 50 chapters of the manga. He stated, “I am currently checking and adjusting dialogue and timeline for the publication of the next 50 episodes. Once done, I intend to get back to manuscript inking work, which I had abandoned.”

This revelation has invigorated the Hunter x Hunter community, especially considering the series’ history of intermittent releases due to Togashi’s ongoing health challenges. In recent months, Togashi has been transparent about his health, disclosing that he underwent surgery and experienced periods of being bedridden. Despite these obstacles, his commitment to advancing the manga remains steadfast.

The manga resumed publication in Weekly Shonen Jump on October 7, 2024, after a nearly two-year hiatus, with chapter 400 released in December 2022. The latest chapter, 410, was published on December 8, 2024. However, the series has entered another indefinite hiatus, with the note that “the next chapter will be published as soon as it is decided.”

Togashi’s dedication to the series is further exemplified by his proactive measures to ensure its completion. He has previously shared that he revealed three potential endings for Hunter x Hunter to trusted individuals, ensuring the story could reach a conclusion even if unforeseen circumstances prevent him from completing it himself.
